Hi! My name is Dembe, and I want to
be a pastor when I grow up, just like my
dad. He’s been a pastor my whole life, but
he hasn’t always had the Bible in Bwisi.
That’s the language we speak at home. Dembe

to Dembe. He lives in Uganda.
Dembe wants to tell us about
what he wants to be when
he grows up.

When my dad was growing
up, he didn’t have a Bible
he understood. He would
listen to the Bible in
English, but it wasn’t the
same. Sometimes it was hard
to understand what the
words really meant!
It wasn’t until 1992
that missionaries
started translating the
Bible into the Bwisi
language. It took many
years of hard work,
but now we have the
whole New Testament!
